The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has released a grant opportunity to provide for local governments to pursue non-traditional transportation-related activities such as pedestrian facilities, bicycle facilities, and pedestrian streetscaping projects. Applicants for TAP funds must provide at least 20% of total project costs in matching funds. The minimum request for total project award is $1,000,0000 and the maximum request is the pool limit. The local match must be a “hard match” (cash).

This funding opportunity first became available in Georgia in 2018. If funds are available local governments have a tremendous opportunity to expound upon their pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure. If your local government is interested in applying the Middle Georgia Regional Commission will be happy to assist with preparing all grant materials. Grant applications are due June 15, 2019.
