Jones County / City of Gray Bicycle & Pedestrian Planning

The Five-Year Work Program contained within the local comprehensive plan has identified several bicycle and pedestrian activities to be undertaken between 2012-2016, and these activities are: (1) Construction of new bike paths and walkways in the Ocmulgee-Piedmont Scenic Byway corridor; (2) Develop County Greenspace Plan to identify priority areas for greenways and trails in the unincorporated area of Jones County; (3) Begin acquisition of the priority areas for greenways and trails identified in the Jones County Greenspace Plan; (4) Plan and establish interconnecting bike trails and sidewalks that include Clinton, Highway 18 Connector, Jones County High School, and the Highway 18 recreation park; (5) Plan and establish sidewalks on Dusty Lane, Haddock area, and the City of Gray; (6) Acquire the right-of-way for a shared-use trail in the Jones County portion of the abandoned rail line from Macon to Milledgeville and (7) Develop an attractive, mixed-use pedestrian/bicycle-friendly place within the downtown area.
