The Governor’s Highway Safety Association’s annual report offers a first look at state and national trends in 2018 pedestrian deaths. The report projects that 6,227 pedestrians were killed on U.S. roads in 2018, the highest number in nearly three decades. This website contains downloadable infographics and the full report, which examines a number of factors that may be influencing the rise in pedestrian deaths. These include increased exposure, unfriendly infrastructure, unsafe driving behaviors, and the increased presence of sport utility vehicles (SUVs). The link below will take you to the report and multiple graphics.
Feel free to share this information with anyone you may know to reduce the number of pedestrian deaths to zero!
